Most of my Amersham courses are run in a bright, cheerful, well-equipped and comfortable studio at the bottom of my garden. During our breaks in the Intensive courses, the children have access to the garden (weather dependent), with a table tennis table, or they can play darts (magnetic) and board games or simply take it easy.

Battersea courses take place either in local schools or in a comfortable and spacious church hall with easy local parking in Battersea.

I am DBS checked, First Aid trained, mother of three children, now grown up, and a trained teacher of English as a Foreign Language.

I hope that I combine teaching experience, a great interest in the motivation and encouragement of children, a sense of humour and, of course, touch typing abilities to create fun and effective courses and lessons.

The Founding of Titans

Titans was founded from a desire to do something useful in the area in which I live (following a four year career break from magazine marketing) and also continue to be very present in my children’s lives as they grew.

I had always wanted my children to benefit early on from the touch typing skill I learnt a bit late in life – I think anyone who can touch type finds it inconceivable to use computers in any other way.

I had purchased two or three software programs over the years for my three girls to use but they were all viewed briefly and then consigned to the shelf to gather dust. There were, at the time, no programs geared specifically to children and I did not have the heart to insist they work their way through the dull stuff.

A chance conversation with a friend – who, whilst appreciating the enormous difference touch typing had made to her children, lamented the time she had spent on the road getting them back and forth to the London-based course she had found – gave me the idea for a tutoring business.

I spent a great deal of time researching the best resources, structuring the courses and experimenting on my children – and in 2012 Touch Type Titans was born.

It has been a pleasure and a privilege to help so many children gain this essential life skill and, especially where there is a learning difficulty involved, to watch their confidence grow as they do so.
